Growing Leaders - Where to start


How do you identify potential Leaders in your Church?
We look for...
  • Character
  • Chemistry 
  • Competence

Look for leaders who connect with the family of the Church and serve first. 

Depending on the role, there has to be a degree of competence

A less gifted person with great character and heart can be more effective than the most gifted person who's heart isn't in the right place. 

 What are practical steps in identifying and nurturing this gift?

 Identify people, give people an opportunity, allow for the making of mistakes, 

 What are some of the challenges, and how do we overcome them?

 Is there anyone? - Emerging doesn't always mean younger, look openly at the whole Church family.

Don't look too much for the skill - Are you looking at heart and character first before competency?

Ask God - Who is he calling out? 

Don't let past pain hold you back from releasing people again. 

Ensure leaders have a care mechanism so they don't end up only giving out. 

Learn how to let go - See failure as a learning opportunity, empower people rather than micro manage
